Butterfly Conservation has launched its "Protecting the Five Hairstreaks" appeal, to raise funds to support conservation of the five Hairstreak species in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. A project to re-introduce the Chequered Skipper to England has commenced with the release of adult butterflies in Northamptonshire. (Link)

Oak Processionary Moth caterpillars have been found recently, mainly in Greater London but also in Bracknell Forest and Slough. Hairs on the caterpillars can cause fevers and eye and throat irritations. (Link)

To mark the 50th anniversary of Butterfly Conservation, March 10th has been designated as a Conservation Day. UTB's contribution to this is a work party at Aston Upthorpe Downs, Oxon. (Link)

Hairstreak No. 100 mentioned that a Conservation Review Day was planned for 22nd February. This event will not be going ahead.

To celebrate 50 years of Butterfly Conservation, UTB members are invited to join the Herts and Middlesex Branch's Conservation Day at Millhoppers' Pasture NR (near Wilstone, Tring) on Saturday 10th March. (Link)
